PUBLISHER'S NOTE

December 2005

This month we place a special emphasis on cats. "The Great Cat Watch, for Wellness Sake!" is a public education campaign sponsored by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and Fort Dodge Animal Health, to educate cat owners on how to recognize the subtle signs of sickness and encourages twice-yearly wellness visits for their cats.

"The Great Cat Watch for Wellness Sake!" campaign was developed using information from the AAFP's new Feline Behavior Guidelines. The report discusses how changes in behavior or normal routine are the first signs of a potential disease or illness. You can read more about the AAFP Guidelines report in our Top Story. In Special Features, read how to get your cat to the clinic and about home care tips for recovery.

This issue also highlights those writers who have dedicated their careers to felines. Learn more about the 2005 Cat Writers' Association Conference winners in our news release section.

We look forward to continuing to bring you interesting animal health news and hope you enjoy this issue. As always, we look forward to hearing from you at lgerminder@germinder.com.
