THE
CAT WRITERS ARE COMING!

"Writing
Like Cats and Dogs: Living the Dream" is the theme of the Cat Writers'
Association's 7th Annual Conference to be held Nov. 17, 18 and 19 at
the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in Kansas City, Mo.
A wide range of subjects will be covered in the Friday and Saturday
seminars co-sponsored by the Dog Writers Association of America and
including a series of panel discussions featuring nonfiction and fiction
authors and magazine editors. Other sessions will focus on writing for
children, working with a publicist, media training and two sessions
regarding Internet writing.
Eight editors from national publications and online services will be
available for one-on-one meetings with attendees as well as at the Meet-the-Editor
reception on Friday evening from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m.
On Saturday evening, the 2000 CWA Awards Banquet with the presentation
of CWA Muse medallions plus 14 special awards. The featured speaker
for this year's banquet is best-selling mystery writer, Susan Conant,
author of the Dog Lovers Mystery series. "We are delighted to welcome
Susan as our guest speaker for this year's banquet," said Amy D.
Shojai, CWA president, "especially now that she has added a new
feline character to her popular series."
The public is invited to attend a Pet Book Autograph Party that will
take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. during the Cat Fanciers' Association
International Cat Show in Bartle Hall at the Kansas City Convention
Center. More than 20 authors will sign their books on care and training,
behavior and breeds.
Among those in attendance will be a number of popular authors
including:Susan Conant, Amy D. Shojai, CWA president and author of many
pet books including New Choices in Natural Healing for Dogs and Cats,
Shirley Rousseau Murphy, writer the popular series of novels including
Cat Spitting Mad, Cat Under Fire and Cat in the Dark, Pam Johnson-Bennett,
feline behaviorist and best-selling author of Think Like a Cat, and
Mordecai Siegal, award-winning author of many books on animal behavior
including "Grr. The Complete Guide to Understanding and Preventing
Aggressive Behavior in Dogs."
Fees for the conference are $65.00 for CWA and DWAA members and $88
for non-members and the registration deadline is November 7, 2000. For
